Officer Conduct and the General Article (Article 133, Article 134)

Article 133 applies only to commissioned officers, cadets, and midshipmen, and reaches conduct that seriously compromises the accused’s standing as an officer. Article 134, the General Article, is not a single offense: it covers conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, service-discrediting conduct, and noncapital crimes and offenses, and the Manual for Courts-Martial lists 18 specific offenses under it. See the Article 134 hub for those offenses and for the many offenses that were moved out of Article 134 in 2019.
